Eight former University of Arkansas student-athletes have been named to the 2025 class of the University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor. The group includes Makeba Alcide (Women’s Track & Field), Brian Baker (Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country), Zack Cox (Baseball), the late Ryan Mallett (Football), C’eira Ricketts (Women’s Basketball), James Rouse (Football), Dwight Stewart (Men’s Basketball) and Clint Stoerner (Football). Their formal induction will take place on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville. The event is scheduled for the night before Arkansas faces Notre Dame for the first time at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
Inductees are chosen through a vote by former Razorback letterwinners along with the A Club.
“Every year it is a privilege to induct our Razorback greats into the University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor, and this year is no exception,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek said. “Our 2025 class represents individuals whose achievements, character and legacy have forever shaped the proud tradition of Razorback Athletics. It will truly be a fantastic weekend honoring them in September.”
Further details about tickets for this free event will be announced soon. Sponsorship opportunities are available through the Razorback Foundation.
The honorees include athletes from several sports:
Makeba Alcide competed for Arkansas from 2009 to 2013 in women’s track and field, specializing in pentathlon and heptathlon events. She set a collegiate record in pentathlon at the 2013 SEC Indoor title with a score that still ranks among the top ten all-time nationally twelve years later. Alcide also holds St. Lucia’s national records in multiple events.
Brian Baker was part of nine national championship teams between 1990 and 1993 as a distance runner for men’s track & field/cross country, earning seven All-America honors and winning an NCAA Outdoor title in 1994. He has served as Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at Gardner-Webb University for over two decades.
Zack Cox played third base for Arkansas baseball during 2009-10, finishing his college career with some of the highest batting averages in school history before being drafted by MLB’s St. Louis Cardinals.
Ryan Mallett transferred from Michigan to play quarterback for Arkansas football under coach Bobby Petrino, recording over 7,400 passing yards and ranking among program leaders before moving on to an NFL career with several teams.
C’eira Ricketts was an All-SEC guard from Louisville who left her mark across several statistical categories during her basketball career at Arkansas from 2008-12 before playing professionally overseas.
James Rouse played running back from 1985–1989, rushing nearly three thousand yards and scoring thirty-nine touchdowns while helping lead his team to multiple bowl games before being drafted by the Chicago Bears.
Dwight Stewart contributed to three Sweet Sixteens, two Final Fours, two consecutive NCAA Tournament Championship Games—including winning it all in 1994—during his time with men’s basketball after transferring from junior college.
Clint Stoerner led Arkansas football as quarterback during its successful late-1990s seasons including division titles and bowl victories; he later played professionally both domestically and abroad.
