Arkansas offensive lineman Fernando Carmona and defensive lineman Cam Ball have been named to the preseason Coaches All-SEC teams, according to a vote by the Southeastern Conference’s 16 head coaches.
Carmona was selected for the first team, while Ball earned third-team honors. Carmona, from Las Vegas, Nevada, started all 13 games for Arkansas in 2024. He played a key role in an offense that averaged 459.5 yards per game, ranking tenth nationally. The Razorbacks also had one of the top passing offenses in the country with an average of 274.7 yards per game, ranking eighteenth nationally. Over the season, Arkansas recorded 5,973 total offensive yards—the fourth-highest single-season total in program history. Carmona contributed to two of the program’s top ten single-game yardage performances last year: a 58-25 win over Mississippi State with 673 total yards and no sacks allowed (314 passing, 359 rushing), and a 70-0 season-opening victory against Arkansas-Pine Bluff with 687 total yards.
Ball has played in 39 games and started 20 times during his collegiate career at Arkansas. In his redshirt junior season in 2024, he started all 13 games and achieved a career-high with 47 tackles, including four tackles for loss and one-and-a-half sacks. Ball also added two quarterback hurries and recovered a fumble during the season. His contributions included five tackles and a quarterback hurry in Arkansas’ Liberty Bowl win over Texas Tech on December 27 and a career-best seven tackles against Missouri on November 30. In the victory at Mississippi State on October 26, Ball had three tackles, an assisted sack, and recovered a fumble.
Both players have recently received recognition beyond this latest honor: Carmona was named to the Outland Trophy Watch List on July 29; Ball was listed for the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List on July 31. The media also recognized them ahead of this season—Carmona as second-team All-SEC and Ball as third team.
Head Coach Sam Pittman began preseason practice with his team on August 1 as they prepare for their season opener against Alabama A&M at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on August 30 at 3:15 p.m., which will be broadcast on SEC Network.
