The Arkansas Razorbacks women’s swimming and diving team lost their first Southeastern Conference (SEC) dual meet of the season to No. 17 South Carolina, with a final score of 182-118.

Junior Harriet Rogers led the Razorbacks by finishing first in three events: the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 butterfly. Freshman Viola Petrini won the 200 freestyle event. The relay team of Rogers, Delaney Harrison, Tammy Greenwood, and Petrini secured a win in the 400 freestyle relay.

“It was a great day for our team today, we went toe-to-toe with a team ranked in the top 20 and beat another ranked team on Wednesday,” head coach Neil Harper said. “We practiced hard this week, lifted all three days and raced with confidence today. We had over 10 lifetime personal bests, and that is a great indicator of what’s to come. I am so proud of this team.”

In diving events, sophomore Majo Sanchez placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. Sophomore Kanah Pumphrey finished third in the 3-meter event while senior Malea Martinez took third place in the 1-meter.

The Razorbacks now have a record of two wins and one loss for the season. Their next meets are scheduled for October 24-25 against Miami and Rutgers.
