Carter Stoutmire, a defensive back from Colorado, has joined the Arkansas Razorbacks football program. Stoutmire played three seasons at Colorado and comes from Plano, Texas, where he attended Prestonwood Christian High School.
During the 2025 season at Colorado, Stoutmire appeared in eight games and started seven. He missed four games due to injury but recorded 38 total tackles, including 23 solo tackles. He also contributed five pass breakups, two quarterback hurries, and one forced fumble. On special teams, he participated in 42 snaps across kickoff, punt return, and field goal block units.
In the previous year as a sophomore in 2024, Stoutmire played all 13 games with seven starts split between safety and nickel positions. “First three starts of the season came at safety filling in for Shilo Sanders … Started the last four games of the season at nickel for Preston Hodge … Finished the season with the sixth most total tackles on the team with 42, seven pass breakups, six third down stops, two quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, one tackle for zero, and half a tackle for loss … Played the fourth most special teams plays on the team with 167 on five different special teams groups: kickoff return, kickoff, punt return, punt coverage, and field goal block.” In his freshman year (2023), he played nine games with one start against Arizona State and registered 11 tackles along with a blocked kick.
Stoutmire was recognized as a three-star prospect out of high school by multiple recruiting services. During his time at Prestonwood Christian High School under coach Donnie Yantis, he helped lead his team to a combined record of 29-15 over four years. His high school career included notable statistics such as 78 tackles (5.5 for loss), nine interceptions—three returned for touchdowns—and contributions on offense and special teams.
His athletic background extends to track & field where he placed fourth in state championships for long jump as a junior and was part of two state title relay teams.
Stoutmire’s father Omar played college football at Fresno State before spending ten years in the NFL.
