Arkansas Razorbacks women’s track and field alumni Nickisha Pryce and Krissy Gear each secured gold medals at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Senior Championships held in Freeport, Grand Bahama, on Sunday.

Pryce finished first in the 400 meters with a time of 49.95 seconds. She was followed by Wadeline Venlogh of Haiti, who clocked 50.23 seconds, and Lynna Irby-Jackson from the United States, who finished in 50.47 seconds. Shaunae Miller-Uibo, who set the NACAC meet record of 49.40 in 2022, did not compete in the final.

Krissy Gear won gold in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:35.27. Gear’s performance put her eight seconds ahead of runner-up Grace Fetherstonhaugh from Canada, who completed the race in 9:43.91. Gear narrowly missed breaking the NACAC meet record of 9:34.36 set by Gabrielle Jennings (United States) in 2022.

“Nickisha Pryce (Jamaica), 400m,” was listed as one of Arkansas’s two gold medalists at the championships.

“Krissy Gear (US), 3,000m steeplechase,” also earned gold for Arkansas.

In addition to these victories, Arkansas athletes took home a silver medal through Shafiqua Maloney representing St. Vincent in the women’s 800 meters and a bronze by Tyrice Taylor from Jamaica in the men’s 800 meters.

Arkansas athletes ended their participation at the NACAC Championships with two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.
