Arkansas Razorbacks basketball hosts fan event featuring contests and scholarship announcements

The Arkansas Razorbacks men’s and women’s basketball teams were introduced at an event held at the Palace, where Coach John Calipari welcomed fans and expressed hope that the gathering would become an annual tradition.

During the event, Coach Calipari and Ellen Calipari announced the funding of two scholarships worth $10,000 each for Colby Barnett and Ella Welentiny.

The evening featured a dunk contest in which Nick Pringle finished third, Billy Richmond III was runner-up, and Trevon Brazile won by jumping over 7-footer Elmir Dzafic before completing his dunk.

A three-point shooting contest followed, with Meleek Thomas scoring 20 points to defeat Jaden Karuletwa, who scored 17 points. The program concluded with an eight-minute scrimmage. Unofficial scores from the scrimmage included Billy Richmond III, Meleek Thomas, and Isaiah Sealy with eight points each; Trevon Brazile and Malique Ewin with seven points; Karter Knox with six; Darius Acuff Jr. with five; D.J. Wagner and Elmir Dzafic with four; and Jaden Karuletwa with two.

Coach Calipari told attendees: “I hope this is an event fans can look forward to attending each year.”
