The Arkansas Razorbacks softball team defeated the University of Connecticut, 10-2, in six innings to clinch the series on March 21 at Bogle Park.
This victory marks Arkansas’ 18th run-rule win of the season, which is the second-highest total in program history. The only higher mark was set by last year’s squad with a record of 23 run-rule wins.
Sophomore pitcher Payton Burnham threw a complete game, allowing just two runs and three hits while striking out five batters over six innings. With this performance, Burnham improved her season record to seven wins and two losses. Senior Tianna Bell led the offense with three hits and four runs batted in. Reagan Johnson also contributed with two hits—a double and a triple—bringing her career hit total to 259, just three shy of breaking Hannah McEwen’s Arkansas career record of 261.
Other notable performances included Brinli Bain and Kennedy Miller each recording multiple hits for Arkansas. UConn’s Sydney Koosh took the loss after giving up nine runs on ten hits across five-and-a-third innings.
Arkansas is now 26-4 overall this season and has extended its all-time series lead over UConn to three games without a loss. The team remains undefeated in its last 112 games when scoring eight or more runs—a streak dating back to February 2021.
The Razorbacks will attempt to sweep the series against UConn tomorrow at noon. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
