The Arkansas Razorbacks women’s swimming and diving team will host their final home meet of the regular season on Friday, facing Vanderbilt in swimming events and North Texas in diving at the HPER Natatorium. The event is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
Prior to the competition, Arkansas will honor four senior athletes: Aris Runnels, Delaney Harrison, Malea Martinez, and Sydney Craft. The ceremony will recognize their contributions to the program.
Arkansas holds a strong record against both visiting teams. The Razorbacks lead Vanderbilt 16-0 in their all-time series and last defeated them 133-129 in Nashville during the previous season. Against North Texas, Arkansas leads 9-0 overall; their most recent meeting was in the 2013-14 season when Arkansas won 207-91.
Head coach Neil Harper commented on the significance of competing against Vanderbilt: “We have a great rivalry and respect for Vanderbilt,” Harper said. “We are the SEC’s two women’s only programs, so we understand, appreciate, and support each other to continually promote, respect, and validate the great opportunities our women have at our universities. Our meet is usually our last dual meet before SEC’s so we can both focus on the things we need to prepare for our success. It will also be a great time to recognize our four seniors for their commitment and success in leading our program.”
Diving events will continue Saturday at 10 a.m., featuring platform performances.
