The Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the Little Rock Trojans 7-0 on April 7 at Baum-Walker Stadium, with six pitchers combining for a shutout. The victory improved No. 22 Arkansas to a record of 21-13 and strengthened their dominance over in-state opponents.

This win is significant as it marks the Razorbacks’ fourth shutout of the season and enhances their performance in midweek games to seven wins and two losses. Since 1947, Arkansas has compiled an overall record of 31-7 against other teams from within the state, including an eight-win, two-loss mark versus Little Rock.

Tate McGuire made his first start of the season for Arkansas, pitching three scoreless innings before handing over to the bullpen. Relievers Parker Coil, Steele Eaves, Gabe Gaeckle, Cooper Dossett, and Ethan McElvain contributed six more scoreless innings with a combined total of six strikeouts.

Offensively, Arkansas was held without a hit until the fifth inning when Ryder Helfrick delivered a sacrifice fly to bring home TJ Pompey for the first run. The team broke open the game in the sixth inning with Reese Robinett’s bases-clearing double that extended their lead to four runs. Helfrick added another RBI double later in that inning and eventually scored on a wild pitch.

Zack Stewart capped off scoring with his sixth home run of the season—also marking his fiftieth career homer—in the seventh inning. Despite recording only four hits during the game, Arkansas capitalized on seven walks, two hit batsmen, and three stolen bases.

Looking ahead, Arkansas will travel for its next Southeastern Conference series against No. 8 Alabama starting Friday night at Sewell–Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
