Several members of the Arkansas Razorbacks women’s tennis team competed at the UTR PTT 25K Fayetteville tournament held at Billingsley Tennis Center this week.
On Monday, Carolina Gomez secured a win against Elizabeth Fauchet with a score of 6-3, 6-3. Jimena Gomez Alonso defeated Olga Bienzobas Fernandez 6-3, 6-2, and Alex Panagiotidou beat Juliana Singerza 6-1, 6-3.
The following day saw Carolina Gomez winning over Anet Koskel 6-2, 6-0, while Arina Babenko triumphed against Morgan McCarthy with a score of 6-0, 6-1. On day three, Katie Ferguson overcame Kaiden Greer in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-1), Anet Koskel won against Elizabeth Fauchet (6-0, 6-1), and Carolina Gomez took victory over Danielle Young (6-3, 6-2).
Day four brought additional wins for the Razorbacks. Jimena Gomez Alonso defeated Jana Stojanova (6-1, 6-4) and Alex Panagiotidou shut out Kaiden Greer (6-0, 6-0). In the final round-robin matches on Friday, Carolina Gomez prevailed over Sara Borkop in three sets (5-7, 6-3, 6-1), and Anet Koskel came from behind to defeat Danielle Young (4-6, 7-6, 6-4).
Playoff rounds began Saturday. Carolina Gomez won her match against Alyson Shannon (6-3, 6-1) and Anet Koskel beat Katie Ferguson (6-4, 6-2). Both players lost their matches on Sunday: “Gomez 7–5, 4–6, 3–5” and “Koskel 6–0, 6–3.”
