The Arkansas swim and dive team secured a win against Drury on Friday night, finishing the dual meet with a score of 185.50-56.50. This result brings the Razorbacks’ record against Drury to 24 wins and 3 losses, extending their winning streak over the Panthers to 18 consecutive meets.
Arkansas won all 13 events in the meet, including both relay races. Senior Sydney Craft and freshman Ellen Garritson each earned two first-place finishes. Craft led in the 1000 freestyle and 200 butterfly, while Garritson finished first in the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke.
Additional first-place finishes came from junior Tammy Greenwood (200 freestyle), senior Delaney Harrison (50 freestyle), junior Harriet Rogers (100 freestyle), sophomore Ashley Morton (200 backstroke), and freshman Kate Bradley (500 freestyle).
Head coach Neil Harper commented, “I am really happy with the performance of our team. It is important for us to be tired and uncomfortable to help us stay focused on race strategy and execution. Our seniors and juniors led by example and we had some strong performances from our sophomores and freshmen.”
In diving, sophomore Majo Sanchez took first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events for a second consecutive year against Drury. Diving coach Abel Sanchez said, “I am so proud of the young ladies, everyone posted an NCAA zone cut. This is a great start to the season … [Majo] dove lights out. We also had some solid scores from Lotti Hubert on 1-meter, Lauren French on 3-meter, and Maizie Sanchez, who also received an NCAA zone cut on 1-meter.”
The Razorbacks will begin SEC competition against South Carolina at home on October 11.
