The Arkansas volleyball team is preparing for its first away games in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play this weekend. The team will travel to face Missouri and Vanderbilt, with both matches marking significant milestones.
Friday’s match against the Missouri Tigers in Columbia will be the 1,000th game in program history. Arkansas has only won once at Missouri’s home court, which happened in 2022. The Tigers currently have an overall record of 8-2 and are winless in conference play at 0-2. They rank second and third in the SEC for aces per set (1.94) and digs per set (14.38), respectively. Missouri libero Maya Sands leads the conference with 4.73 digs per set, a figure that also places her among the top 25 nationally.
On Sunday, Arkansas will play Vanderbilt in Nashville for the first time ever, as Vanderbilt reinstated its volleyball program this season after a 45-year break. The Commodores have a current record of 4-7 and are also seeking their first SEC victory at 0-2. Their schedule has included two ranked non-conference opponents and two top-10 teams—Texas and Texas A&M—in their initial conference games.
Both Arkansas and Vanderbilt feature setters ranked fourth and fifth in the SEC for assists per set: Kiki Remensperger of Arkansas averages 9.85, while Isabella Bareford of Vanderbilt averages 9.69.
Friday’s match is scheduled for 7 p.m., while Sunday’s game starts at noon. Both matches will be available to stream on SEC Network+.
Arkansas enters these contests with a hitting percentage of .224, averaging 12.56 kills, 11.87 assists, and 13.33 digs per set.
