The Arkansas Razorbacks women’s volleyball team will travel to Texas this weekend for matches against two top-ranked opponents, Texas and Texas A&M.
These upcoming games are expected to be among the toughest of the season for Arkansas, as both Texas and Texas A&M are ranked in the top 10 nationally. The Longhorns currently hold the No. 2 spot in the country and remain one of only two undefeated Division I teams, alongside Nebraska. In Southeastern Conference play, Texas has lost just three sets so far, all occurring last weekend.
Texas leads the SEC in kills per set (14.86) and assists per set (13.84). The team is also ranked in the top three for hitting percentage (.304) and digs per set (14.50).
Texas A&M enters the weekend with only two non-conference losses, both to ranked teams, and a single SEC loss to Kentucky. Setter Maddie Waak is leading both the conference and the nation with 11.56 assists per set. The Aggies have limited their opponents to a .162 hitting percentage, which is second lowest in the SEC and among the top 20 nationally.
Arkansas holds a record of 5-12 overall and 1-5 in conference play this season. Last year, the Razorbacks lost both of their matches against Texas and Texas A&M.
The match against Texas is scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m., while Sunday’s contest against Texas A&M will begin at 2 p.m. Both matches will be available for live streaming on SEC Network+.
