Arkansas volleyball was defeated in straight sets by Texas A&M on Sunday in College Station, with set scores of 20-25, 20-25, and 19-25. The loss extends Arkansas’ losing streak in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play to seven matches. The Razorbacks’ only conference win this season came against Ole Miss on September 26.
Texas A&M, ranked No. 10 nationally, improved its SEC record to 7-1. Arkansas fell to 1-7 with seven matches remaining in the regular season.
Lakin Laurendine led Arkansas offensively with 10 kills. Romani Thurman contributed seven kills without an attack error on 18 attempts, resulting in a .389 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Kiki Remensperger recorded 17 assists and seven digs, bringing her career total to 504 assists. She shared setting duties with Livia Niu, who had 13 assists.
Freshman Journey Peppers added four kills and two blocks while hitting .333 for the match.
The first set saw several early ties before Texas A&M used a run to take control at 11-7. Arkansas tied the score at 14 before the Aggies regained the lead and eventually won the set.
In the second set, Arkansas briefly led after a service ace from Laurendine but could not maintain momentum as Texas A&M pulled ahead with a late run.
Arkansas started strong in the third set and held an early lead, but Texas A&M responded and closed out the match with a decisive run.
Arkansas will next play Auburn on Wednesday, October 22 at 6 p.m., marking its first nationally televised match of the season on SEC Network.
