Arkansas volleyball began its Southeastern Conference (SEC) season with a five-set victory over Ole Miss on Friday night. The match ended with set scores of 25-21, 20-25, 26-24, 19-25, and 15-8.
Freshman outside hitter Parker Duncan led the Razorbacks with 21 kills and recorded a .263 hitting percentage while committing six attack errors. Romani Thurman contributed 15 kills, and Lakin Laurendine posted a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs. Setter Kiki Remensperger also achieved a double-double, finishing with 49 assists and 11 digs.
Graduate middle blocker Zoi Evans added five kills, two blocks, and one service ace to her performance. According to the team’s report, this was her fourth ace in three matches.
With this result, Arkansas improved its overall record to 5-7 and started SEC play at 1-0.
The first set saw both teams trading points until Arkansas pulled ahead late to win. Ole Miss responded by taking control in the second set to even the match. In the third set, Arkansas secured a narrow win after overcoming a late deficit. The Rebels forced a deciding fifth set by winning the fourth frame. In the final set, Arkansas established an early lead and maintained momentum through key plays from Thurman, Weeks, Duncan, and Laurendine to clinch the match.
Arkansas will next face LSU at Barnhill Arena on Sunday at 3 p.m., with tickets available online or at the venue. The match will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
