No. 7 Arkansas women’s soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against No. 10 South Carolina on Thursday night in Columbia, South Carolina. This marks the Razorbacks’ first tie in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play this season.

South Carolina scored first in the 10th minute when Taylor Bloom headed in a corner kick from Cuyler Zulauf. Arkansas answered in the 29th minute with a goal that began with a corner kick by Kennedy Ball, whose cross was headed by Makenzie Malham to Bella Field at the near post for the equalizer.

The Razorbacks took the lead early in the second half when freshman forward Vailana Tu’ua scored with a left-footed shot that hit the crossbar before going into the net. However, South Carolina responded with an equalizer from Gracie Falla, her first goal of the season.

Arkansas junior forward Bella Field has now scored three goals since returning to play on September 26 after recovering from a broken nose suffered earlier in September. Freshman Vailana Tu’ua has contributed at least one point in each of Arkansas’ five SEC matches so far and leads her team with four goals and two assists during conference play. Kennedy Ball recorded her fifth assist of the season on Field’s goal.

The result moves Arkansas’ record against ranked opponents this year to two wins, two losses, and two draws. The team is now unbeaten in its last eight matches and holds a record of three wins and one draw against South Carolina since 2020.

Next, Arkansas will host No. 13 Mississippi State on Sunday night at Razorback Field. Both teams currently have 13 points and share first place atop the SEC standings. The match will begin at 6 p.m., streamed live on SECN+.
