The Arkansas Razorbacks women’s track and field team finished second at the SEC Indoor Championships, scoring 73 points, just behind Florida’s 77. This marks the first time since 2014 that a team other than Arkansas has won the conference indoor title.

Arkansas athletes earned seven medals during the competition: three gold, one silver, and three bronze. In the 800 meters, Analisse Batista took gold with a personal best of 2:01.10, moving to No. 2 on the University of Arkansas all-time list. Sanu Jallow-Lockhart finished closely behind in second place with a time of 2:01.12. Teammates Makenna Herbst and Ainsley Erzen contributed by finishing fourth and seventh in the same event.

Sydney Vaught added to Arkansas’ medal count by winning gold in the 5,000 meters earlier in the meet and securing bronze in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:51.97. Her combined efforts earned her a share of the Cliff Harper trophy for high point scorers at the meet.

In the closing event, Arkansas won gold in the 4 x 400 meter relay with Kaylyn Brown, Analisse Batista, Sanu Jallow-Lockhart, and Sanaria Butler running a time of 3:26.81—ranking eighth on UA’s all-time list. Butler anchored with a split of 51 seconds to move from third to first place in a close finish against South Carolina (3:26.85) and Georgia (3:26.88).

Other medalists for Arkansas included Maria Arboleda (bronze in high jump) and Heidi Hudson (bronze in long jump). Kaylyn Brown also placed fifth individually in the 400 meters.

Georgia followed Arkansas with third place overall at 68 points; Kentucky scored 63; South Carolina had 60; Alabama finished with 58; Texas A&M posted 51; Ole Miss had 38.5; Tennessee scored 34; Auburn recorded 33; Texas tallied 30; LSU ended with 23.

“Batista charged down the homestretch of the 800m to pass Jallow-Lockhart and claim victory in a career best of 2:01.10, which ranks No.2 on the UA all-time list,” according to meet organizers.

“Sanaria Butler moved from third to first on the anchor leg… as the Razorbacks finished in [a] time by [the] Razorbacks [that] ranks No.8 on [the] UA all-time list,” organizers said about their relay win.
