Arkansas women’s tennis defeats UMKC to close out regular season

The Arkansas Razorbacks women’s tennis team announced on Apr. 13 that it defeated the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) to finish its regular season, improving its record to 13-13 overall and 3-12 in conference play.

The match saw strong performances from the Razorbacks in both doubles and singles competition. In doubles, Carolina Gomez Alonso and Jimena Gomez Alonso secured a win over Maria Bylina and Catherine Chrobak with a score of 6-1. Anet Koskel and Brooke Schafer also contributed by defeating Amal Gati and Alessandra Xibilia, 6-2.

In singles action, No. 34 Carolina Gomez Alonso won against Amal Gati with sets of 6-1, 6-0. Brooke Schafer took down Alessandra Xibilia by scores of 6-2, 6-1. Alexandra Panagiotidou beat Luciana Braga, finishing at 6-1, 6-1. Arina Babenko also added to the team’s success by defeating Alisa Reznik with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-0.

Looking ahead, the Razorbacks will compete against South Carolina on Wednesday at the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Norman, Oklahoma. The match is scheduled for a morning start at nine o’clock.
