Arkansas women’s tennis opens season with doubleheader wins over Missouri State

Arkansas women’s tennis began its season with two victories over Missouri State, winning both matches 4-0.

In the first match, Arkansas secured the doubles point by winning two out of three matches. Jimena Gomez-Alonso and Brooke Schafer defeated Elsie Jackson and Raluca Puscas 6-1, while Carolina Gomez and Anet Koskel beat Lucy Latham and Matilde Ercoli 6-1.

The Razorbacks then won three singles matches to complete their first sweep. Katarina Pavlechova defeated Leni Eichner 6-0, 6-0. Anet Koskel overcame Matilde Ercoli 6-0, 6-1. Alexandra Panagiotidou secured the final point by beating Elsie Jackson 6-2, 6-2.

After a break between matches, Arkansas again took two of three doubles contests. Katarina Pavlechova and Alexandra Panagiotidou won against Leni Eichner and Billur Gonlusen 6-1. Jimena Gomez-Alonso and Brooke Schafer repeated their earlier result against Elsie Jackson and Raluca Puscas with another 6-1 win.

The team went on to win three singles matches in the second contest as well. Anet Koskel defeated Elsie Jackson 6-1, 6-1; Carolina Gomez beat Billur Gonlusen 6-0, 6-3; Alexandra Panagiotidou finished the day with a victory over Leticia Caldararo, winning 6-1, 6-3.
