With the college basketball season approaching, the Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team is set to participate in the SEC Basketball Tipoff ‘26 event, which will take place in Birmingham. Head coach John Calipari, along with senior Trevon Brazile and junior D.J. Wagner, will represent Arkansas on Tuesday, October 14, from 1:35 to 3:40 p.m. Central Time.
John Calipari, a Naismith Hall of Fame coach, is entering his 34th season as a collegiate head coach and his second year at Arkansas. He is currently 23 wins away from reaching 900 career on-court victories. If he maintains his current pace, he could become the second or third-fastest coach to reach this milestone in NCAA Division I history. Over the course of his career, Calipari has led teams to 24 NCAA Tournament appearances out of a possible 32 seasons, including 16 Sweet 16s, 12 Elite Eights, six Final Fours, three national title games, and one national championship. In addition, he has accumulated 59 NCAA Tournament wins, tying him with Tom Izzo for most among active coaches and ranking fifth all-time. Calipari is also one of only two coaches to guide three different programs to the Final Four and one of three coaches to take four different schools to the Sweet 16.
Trevon Brazile finished last season with strong performances for the Razorbacks. He played in 34 games with 13 starts and led the team in total rebounds with 184. Brazile was also second in both blocked shots (38) and three-point percentage (.364). In the final nine games of the season, he averaged 11.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game and recorded four double-doubles while making two-thirds of his three-pointers during that stretch. Brazile has become just the 17th player in program history to achieve at least 500 points, 275 rebounds, and 75 blocks while playing fewer games and making fewer starts than any other player who has reached those marks.
D.J. Wagner emerged as a key leader during the latter part of last season and played a significant role in Arkansas’s run to the Sweet 16. Wagner started all 36 games for the Razorbacks and led the team with 131 assists. He ranked second in the SEC in minutes played per game (34:32) and logged over 1,200 total minutes for the season—fifth most in school history. After Boogie Fland’s injury midway through the season, Wagner took over as point guard full-time and improved his averages to 12.2 points and 4.6 assists per game over the final 18 contests.
Before attending SEC Tipoff, Arkansas will host its Razorback Tip-Off Scrimmage at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs on Sunday, October 12. Tickets are available for purchase at Bank OZK Arena. The team will then play two exhibition games, including a home matchup against Cincinnati on October 24 called the CareSource Invitational – Fayetteville, Supporting Mental Health. Tickets for that event are available at the Razorback Ticket Center.
