City of Springdale issued the following announcement on Feb. 25.

WM Announces Adjusted Service Schedule For Friday, February 25

WM has adjusted its service schedule for many of its Northwest Arkansas customers. Icy conditions create an incredibly dangerous situation for motorists, especially solid waste and recycling trucks.

WM is the residential solid waste and recycling partner for the cities of Altus, Avoca, Centerton, Decatur, Farmington, Springdale, Tontitown, Van Buren and for the University of Arkansas.

Services in these entities have been impacted by the recent winter weather event (thunder sleet) today, February 24th and, with sub-freezing temps continuing throughout tonight, are predicted to be further impacted on Friday, February 25th.

WM will again suspend residential collection operations on Friday, February 25th.

If the storm event continues to impact conditions, WM will resume a normal working schedule next week. WM will recover all extra trash that is in a tied bag placed next to cart.

Customers who were scheduled to receive residential, curbside recycling from WM during the winter weather event will be recovered at their next, regularly scheduled recycling day. These customers may put additional recyclables in cardboard boxes placed next to recycling cart. These boxes must be able to fit in the cart. No bags may be used.

Eco-Vista Landfill suspended services today, Thursday, February 24th. This facility is planning to be open Friday, February 25th and Saturday, February 26th.
