Arkansas softball head coach Courtney Deifel has been recognized as one of the Top 25 Head Coaches of the Quarter-Century by D1Softball, according to an announcement from the publication on Tuesday.

Deifel, who has led the Razorbacks since 2016, has overseen significant changes within the program. In her ten seasons, she has guided Arkansas to two SEC regular season titles in 2021 and 2022, one SEC Tournament championship in 2022, and eight straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 2017 to 2025. The team reached the NCAA Tournament Super Regional stage in 2018, 2021, 2022, and 2025. Since Deifel’s arrival, Arkansas has appeared in the NFCA Coaches’ Poll 121 times, after previously being ranked only once. Under her leadership, the program has earned 15 of its 16 NFCA All-American honors, 45 NFCA All-Region selections, and 78 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete recognitions. Deifel holds the program record for career wins and will enter the 2026 season with 359 victories at Arkansas. She has led the team to five 40-win seasons, including three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023. Before her tenure, Arkansas had achieved only two 40-win seasons over 19 years.

Over the past decade, Arkansas’ winning percentage has increased by 21.4% compared to the ten seasons before Deifel’s arrival, with 92 more wins during that period. This improvement is unique among Power 4 schools, as Arkansas is the only program nationally to boost its winning percentage by more than 20% in that timeframe. The Razorbacks’ increase ranks sixth among 297 Division I teams.

Deifel’s overall head coaching record stands at 386-206. Before joining Arkansas, she served as head coach at Maryland for one season in 2015, finishing with a 27-27 record.

D1Softball’s criteria for the Top 25 Coaches of the Quarter-Century required that head coaches have at least ten years in a qualifying role or have won a national championship since 2000. Only on-field results and awards since 2000 were considered.

Deifel is one of seven active SEC head coaches to be included, alongside Patty Gasso (Oklahoma), Patrick Murphy (Alabama), Beth Torina (LSU), Tim Walton (Florida), Karen Weekly (Tennessee), and Mike White (Texas). She shares this recognition with Diane Ninemire, her former coach at Cal, under whom Deifel won a national championship as a catcher in 2002.

The Razorbacks concluded the 2025 season with a 44-14 record, marking their eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and fourth Super Regional appearance—all under Deifel’s leadership.
