Arkansas offensive lineman Fernando Carmona has been named to the 2025 Hispanic College Football Player of the Year Award Watch List, according to an announcement from the Hispanic Football Hall of Fame.

The watch list, in its first year, highlights 15 Hispanic athletes who have made a notable impact during the 2025 college football season. All players on the list are starters and have shown strong performance both on and off the field.

Carmona is one of five student-athletes from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to be recognized. The other SEC players named are Joey Aguilar from Tennessee, KC Concepion from Texas A&M, Josh Cuevas from Alabama, and Diego Pavia from Vanderbilt.

During his collegiate career, Carmona has started 42 consecutive games, including all 18 since joining Arkansas. He contributed to a record-setting run for Arkansas’ offense with five straight games exceeding 500 yards of total offense. This streak began with the team’s appearance in the 2024 Liberty Bowl and continued through their week four game against Memphis. Carmona was also part of an offensive line that did not allow a sack in back-to-back games against Arkansas State and Ole Miss—something Arkansas had not achieved since 2021.

Ron Rivera, a founding board member of the Hispanic Football Hall of Fame, said: “Shining a light on Hispanic athletes who are already proving themselves on some of the biggest stages in college football is exactly why we created this Watch List. Their stories bring great pride to our community.”

Anthony Muñoz, also a founding board member, added: “These athletes are not just outstanding performers on the field, they’re role models for countless young people who see themselves in their success. The College Watch List is a powerful way to celebrate heritage, talent, and the bright future of Hispanic football.”

Arkansas will have a bye week before returning to play on October 11 at 3:15 p.m., when they face Tennessee in Knoxville. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network.
