The University of Arkansas has secured a commitment from JJ Andrews, who is widely regarded as the top high school basketball player in Arkansas and among the best nationally. Andrews, a 6-foot-6 wing from Little Rock Christian Academy, signed with the Razorbacks on Wednesday.

Andrews has received high rankings from several major recruiting outlets. According to 247Sports, he is ranked No. 11 overall and is the fourth-best small forward in his class. ESPN lists him at No. 12 overall and fifth among small forwards, while On3 Industry places him at No. 14 overall and fifth at his position. All three outlets rank him as the top player in Arkansas for his class and give him five-star status. Rivals ranks him at No. 28 overall and eighth among shooting guards, awarding him four stars but also naming him the best player in Arkansas.

Andrews’ high school career includes multiple honors: he was named third team MaxPreps preseason All-America for 2025-26 and recognized by MaxPreps as the No. 3 small forward nationally. He earned Gatorade Arkansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year for 2024-25 and was chosen as All-Arkansas Preps Boys Player of the Year by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for 2025.

During his junior season, Andrews averaged 28.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and two blocks per game, leading Little Rock Christian Academy to a 24-8 record and a spot in the Class 5A state quarterfinals. He has scored over 2,200 points through three seasons of high school basketball.

His achievements include being named MVP of the state tournament in 2024 and earning recognition as top junior at Nike Thanksgiving Hoopfest that same year. He led his team to state championships during both his freshman and sophomore years and won two Peach Jam titles with Bradley Beal Elite on Nike’s EYBL circuit—earning MVP honors after leading them to victory in the championship game.

Andrews’ family has strong ties to athletics at Arkansas; his father Shawn played offensive line for the Razorbacks from 2001–03 before playing seven seasons in the NFL, earning multiple accolades including first-team All-Pro honors and induction into both university and state sports halls of fame. His mother Janetta Heggins played college basketball at Western Carolina.
