Arkansas wide receiver and return specialist Kam Shanks has been named to the 2025 Paul Hornung Award watch list, according to an announcement from the Louisville Sports Commission.

The Paul Hornung Award, now in its 16th year, is presented each season to the most versatile player in major college football. The award is overseen by the Louisville Sports Commission and football legend Paul Hornung.

Shanks joins Arkansas after two seasons at UAB. In 2024, during his redshirt freshman year, he led all FBS players in punt return yards with 329, averaged 20.6 yards per punt return, and scored two punt return touchdowns. He was also a finalist for the Jet Award, which recognizes college football’s top return specialist. Shanks contributed as a receiver as well, recording two games with over 100 receiving yards—one with nine catches for 119 yards against Army on October 12 and another with a career-high 153 receiving yards and three touchdowns versus Tulsa on November 2.

The selection committee for the Paul Hornung Award consists of 18 sports journalists and football experts from around the country. They will select five finalists on November 6 before announcing the winner on December 11.

Arkansas begins fall camp today, with its first practice scheduled for Friday morning. The Razorbacks open their season at home against Alabama A&M on August 30 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The game is set for a 3:15 p.m. kickoff and will air on SEC Network.
