Arkansas defensive lineman Quincy Rhodes Jr. has been named to the 2025 Chuck Bednarik Award Mid-Season Watch List, according to an announcement from the Maxwell Football Club.
The Bednarik Award, established in 1995, is presented annually to the top defensive player in college football. The award is named after Chuck Bednarik, a Hall of Fame linebacker and center who played for the Philadelphia Eagles. The award recognizes players who demonstrate toughness, excellence, and leadership on the field.
Rhodes is one of seven players added nationally to this year’s watch list. Other additions include Hezekiah Masses (California), Mansoor Delane (LSU), Daniel Wingate (Maryland), Josiah Trotter (Missouri), Amaris Brown (UNLV), and John Henry Daley (Utah).
This season, Rhodes has recorded 19 tackles with a team-high five sacks and seven tackles for loss. He ranks seventh nationally in sacks per game and nineteenth in tackles for loss per game. His five sacks also lead the Southeastern Conference. In a recent game against Memphis, Rhodes made six tackles with two sacks and four tackles for loss, becoming the first Arkansas player since Anthony “Juice” Leon in 2010 to achieve at least two sacks and four tackles for loss in a single game. He also had two sacks in a win over Arkansas State on September 6. Rhodes’s two multi-sack games are tied for third-most by an Arkansas defender since 1997.
Semifinalists for the Bednarik Award will be announced on November 11, followed by three finalists on November 25. The winner will be revealed during the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 11, with formal presentations taking place at the Maxwell Football Club Awards in Atlanta on March 13.
Arkansas is currently observing its bye week before returning to play against Tennessee on October 11 at 3:15 p.m., which will be broadcast on SEC Network.
