Razorback athlete Sanu Jallow-Lockhart has been named the USTFCCCA Women’s NCAA Division I National Athlete of the Week following her performance at the start of the indoor track season. Jallow-Lockhart broke the 600-meter collegiate record with a time of 1:24.19, improving on the previous mark by almost one second.
Her new record surpassed both the collegiate and Arkansas records previously set by Britton Wilson in 2023, which stood at 1:25.16. Jallow-Lockhart finished first in her race at the Arkansas Invitational, winning by a margin of 2.5 seconds.
In addition to setting a new collegiate record, Jallow-Lockhart also broke other marks during her run. She set a new Randal Tyson Track Center best, beating Shafiqua Maloney’s 2025 time of 1:24.60, and she eclipsed Shamier Little’s Arkansas Invitational record from 2023 of 1:24.65.
Jallow-Lockhart now ranks eighth on the world all-time list for this event, while Maloney and Little are ranked tenth and eleventh respectively.
By running this time, Jallow-Lockhart improved her own Gambian national record from last year (previously 1:25.37). She now holds the African record for this distance, surpassing former Razorback Regina George’s previous mark of 1:25.76 set in 2014 while representing Nigeria.
Jallow-Lockhart is also ranked second all-time among athletes from Commonwealth nations in this event, behind Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson who ran a time of 1:23.41 in 2023.
