ST. RAPHAEL CHURCH – SPRINGDALE: Family Meals

0Comments

During the holiday season, the food pantry will be giving out Family Meals. Think along the lines of “Meal Kit”. This would include ingredients for any full meal. Many families have NO spices or add ins, to make the meal complete. A bag of dry beans and chicken thighs are fine unless that is the ONLY THINGS YOU HAVE! If we give the family all they need to complete a meal, we really are providing what they need. Consider packing up the ingredients a meal. For Chili, add all the fixins: canned beans, seasonings, jalapeños, corn chips and even canned tamales. Or maybe the ingredients for Potato or Bean Soup complete with a loaf of dipping bread and a bakery desert. For those that want to go the extra mile, you could include something to cook it all in. Many times, I give a box of food only to have someone tell me they have nothing to cook it in! Make this a family project and allow the children or grandchildren to get involved. Let them be creative and Go Big! It feels wonderful to help others when you are young; or young at heart!
