Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Arkansas

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.8 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Arkansas, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Arkansas residents paid $9,130 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $68 more than the $9,062 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 175.7 percent more than residents this year, or $25,168. Their price tag grew 3.5 percent from $24,308 in 2017-18.

About 50 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Arkansas residents. About 49 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 77 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 2,926 students received grants or scholarships totaling $21.1 million and 2,099 students took out student loans totaling more than $16.4 million.

Including all undergraduates (27,778), 12,699 students used grants or scholarships totaling $97.7 million, and 8,617 students took out $56.9 million in federal student loans.
