Arkansas recently issued the following announcement.
This session is for those interested in joing the iFriend Program as a Friendship Family Host. The Friendship Family program is a long term program that matches international students and scholars with individuals and families of all types in the Northwest Arkansas community for social relationships. This is not a home stay program. Friendship Family hosts are requested to meet with their students or scholars at least once a month and keep in touch between meetings throughout the school year. Hosts share their traditions, holidays, events, and everyday life with their students or scholars. Students and scholars are encouraged to share their cultures and join their host families for various cultural events if possible. These relationships can last well beyond the school year. Many participants of Friendship Family program find that they truly become families.
Please submit the Friendship Family Application and sign up for the Host Orientation Session. You must attend a session in order to participate in the iFriend program.
If you have a partner or another person who is co-hosting with you and able to attend the orientation, please mention so in the notes section when booking your session. Older children are encouraged to attend the orientation, especially if they may be spending a lot of time with your iFriend. Please note them as well.
Due to covid precautions, try not to bring young children with you to the orientation session. However, if you must, please let us know how how many children you will be bringing so we can make sure that we do not exceed the social distancing capacity of our space. Masks are required on the U of A campus at this time.
