St. Raphael Church – Springdale issued the following announcement on Jan. 30.
In October of 2021, Pope Francis announced a process of reflection leading up to a meeting of the Synod of Bishops to take place in Rome in October of 2023. He announced a diocesan phase followed by regional and national phases. We are currently in the diocesan phase through February. Bishop Taylor explained the process here in the diocese of Little Rock as having three touchstones: communion, participation, and mission. He told us that “A synodal Church, in announcing the Gospel, “journeys together.” Our participation in the synod will consist of a series of meetings through March 1 to reflect on the following questions: How does this “journeying together” happen in our local Church? And What steps does the Spirit invite us to take to grow in journeying together? We are now ready to begin these listening sessions here at St Raphael and St Joseph. There will be two types. —First, ministries groups and their leadership will have opportunity to share their thoughts during their regularly scheduled February meetings. —Second there will be general “listening sessions” at each parish. Here are sessions dates and times: St Raphael: Tuesday, February 8th at 7:00pm in St Raphael Hall (English Session) St Joseph: Sunday, February 20th at 10:00am in the parish hall (English Session) St Raphael: Sunday, February 27th at 2:00pm in St Raphael Hall (Spanish Session) Feel free to choose any session you wish and invited those who may be estranged from the church. We want to hear everyone’s voices. If you want to learn more about the Synod on Synodality please visit our diocesan web site: Journeying Together: Synod 2021-23 | DOLR.org
