St. Paul's Episcopal Church issued the following announcement on May 6.
In light of the release of the draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court, many are asking what The Episcopal Church’s position on abortion is.
For decades, our church has sought ways to walk pastorally and supportively with those who face difficult and complex decisions over pregnancy and childbirth. Our denomination holds that all human life is sacred, and it opposes any legislation that would interfere with an individual’s right to make informed, faithful decisions about their own pregnancy.
Our nuanced and theologically grounded position does not get much attention in fractured and anxious moments like this, but it may be of comfort to read how our church has wrestled faithfully with this throughout the years: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/.../summary-of-general.../
If you need to talk with someone about this from a faith perspective, call the church office and ask to speak with any of our clergy
