Arkansas and Vanderbilt women’s volleyball teams played their first-ever match against each other on Sunday. Vanderbilt won the contest in straight sets, with scores of 25-17, 25-18, and 25-18. This was Vanderbilt’s debut in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play, giving them a conference record of 1-3. Arkansas also holds a 1-3 record in SEC play after being swept by Missouri earlier in the weekend. The Razorbacks’ overall season record now stands at 5-10.
Lakin Laurendine from Arkansas led both teams with 11 kills and had a hitting percentage of .205. Sophomore setter Kiki Remensperger contributed another double-double performance for Arkansas, finishing the match with 17 assists and leading the team with 11 digs.
In the first set, Vanderbilt established control early, building a lead that Arkansas could not overcome. The Commodores closed out the set at 25-17 after maintaining momentum throughout.
The second set started evenly, but Vanderbilt went on a three-point run after the media timeout to take an advantage they held until winning the set 25-18.
In the third set, Arkansas briefly took an early lead but could not sustain it as Vanderbilt responded and eventually secured another 25-18 victory to complete the sweep.
Arkansas will return home next week for two SEC matches: hosting Georgia on Friday, October 10 at 7 p.m., followed by South Carolina on Sunday, October 12 at 3 p.m. Both matches are scheduled to be streamed live on SEC Network+.
