Washington County Sheriff’s Office issued the following announcement on July 1.
It was busy around the Sheriff’s Office this past month! Here’s a look back at JUST A FEW of the happenings…
1. Congratulations on your retirement, Chaplain Trueblood, and thank you for your many years of dedication and volunteer service to the detainees and employees!
2. SHOUT OUT and CONGRATULATIONS to Elkins firefighter Justin Tate on your 2nd place finish in the 4+400 relay in the Special Olympics USA Games in Florida…and congratulations to all the other participants as well!
3. Sheriff Helder attended the Arkansas Sheriff’s Association Conference, where he and his wife, Holly, received many accolades and expressions of gratitude for their years of dedication and service.
4. Sergeant Bzoski, Sergeant Fortin, Sergeant Jennings, and Sergeant Stewart, graduated from the 4-week Criminal Justice Institute School of Law Enforcement Supervision (SLES). SLES provides a foundation that law enforcement professionals need to build strong careers and advance as effective leaders.
5. The WCSO Cooking Crew was happy to cook for participants of the Matt Adam’s Foundation Charity Golf Tournament.
6. WCSO & ASP hosted a spaghetti fundraiser for ASP Trooper Mitch Smothers in support of his fight against cancer.
7. Corporal Hall escorted the Remember the Removal Bike Ride Tour as they passed through our area. The nearly 1,000-mile trek is accomplished over a three-week period as selected riders from the Cherokee Nation and Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians retrace the northern route of the Trail of Tears.
8. One of our own WCSO family members completed her last chemo treatment, and several from the WCSO family were there to support her as she rang the bell!
8. Some baby skunk rescues visited the deputies at the courthouse security desk.
9. Several from WCSO enjoyed attending Emergency Services Night at the Parsons Stadium 77th Annual Rodeo of the Ozarks!
10. A record number of kids who are interested in emergency services attended the week-long Camp Rescue. A lot was learned and much fun was had!
11. WCSO hosted a blood drive with The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks.
12. Detective William MASON, a twenty-one (21) year veteran of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, recently graduated from the 58th Session of the prestigious University of Tennessee National Forensic Academy. He is the third person from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to attend this renowned 10-week program, which is unparalleled in forensic training.
